Chateaubriand and Yorkshire pudding

A decadent meal last night at a downtown restaurant. Haven't done that in a while. Been so busy these days that all we've had time for were quick stops at neighbourhood takeaways. Diet these days has been dominated by roti, Chinese, pizza, quick pastas, and Vietnamese noodle soups. This is so sad, but I don't even remember the last time I cooked at home. Must have been at least two weeks ago. Sigh. Big city life does have its downside.

However, spirits perked up with last night's date with Jon. After work, we made sure the cats were petted and fed, then headed downtown to Biff's on Front Street. We sat in a nice quiet corner and were treated to attentive service (except for the last part when they forgot to bring the capuccino). Elegant surroundings with white linen tablecloths, subtle lighting and innocuous muzak (except for that short bit of accordion medley, wtf?!). A nice carafe of wine, a rich satisfying meal of chateaubriand au jus, diced roasted parships and carrots, and a nice knot of Yorkshire pudding made for a lingering, relaxing and filling dinner. The kind where you end the meal with a satisfied tummy pat. Very nice.

Evidence this morning suggests Jon and I must have been equally tired: found the basement lights on, the porch lights on, and the door unlocked. I'm just surprised we didn't leave the cats outside by mistake!
